We picked a Tuesday deliberately. Weekend Bluffs traffic is legendary, cars circling Bluffer’s Park, picnic groups claiming every bench. Cathedral Bluffs Park, higher on the escarpment, still had room to breathe at 6:45 a.m.
What we saw
Lake Ontario flat as glass. The cliff face catching orange-pink light on the upper clay band while the base stayed in blue shadow. A single runner and two photographers. That was the crowd.
The erosion fences are sobering up close. Sections of trail have been rerouted in recent years. Respect the barriers; the bluffs lose roughly a metre per year in some stretches.
Try this
If you want beach access after the lookout, drive down to Bluffer’s Park before 9 a.m. on a weekday. The descent is worth it once; your knees may disagree on the climb back.
Would we return?
Yes. Next time with binoculars. Migratory birds use the bluff corridor more than we expected. We’ll log species and update this note.
