Guild Park & Gardens
A lakeside sculpture garden of salvaged Toronto architectural fragments, columns, facades, and Art Deco relics set among mature trees in east-end Scarborough.
Address: 201 Guildwood Parkway, Scarborough
Guild Park & Gardens occupies the former estate of Rosa and Spencer Clark, who founded the Guild of All Arts, a Depression-era artists’ colony and inn. Today the park is best known for its Greek Theatre stage and a remarkable collection of architectural fragments salvaged from demolished Toronto buildings.
The stone garden
After the Second World War, Spencer Clark rescued columns, carvings, and facades from demolished banks, churches, and commercial buildings across downtown Toronto. Scattered through the park, they read like an open-air museum of the city’s lost architecture, Art Deco reliefs beside Romanesque columns.
The Greek Theatre
Built from remnants of the 1910 Toronto Star building and the Bank of Toronto facade, the outdoor amphitheatre hosts summer performances and remains one of Scarborough’s most photographed backdrops.
